The 10' Stratocaster features scenes from outdoor venues

The guitar was sponsored by AMCO and is in front of the Rock Hall throughout the summer.

Kocars watercolor "Pablos zoo" was accepted for The Ohio Watercolor Societys juried show. There will be a reception September 28, 2 to 4 p.m. at The Appalachian Gateway Center in Sadinia, Ohio.

George Kocar wins award at The Society of American Graphic Arts for his linocut "Redhead." He won the SAGA award honoring Riva Helford. The show is being held at The Arts Students League, 215 West 57th, New York, New York. There will be a reception August 6th from 5 to 8 p.m. The show continues until August 17th.

66th Butler Mid-year show at The Butler Institute, Youngstown, Ohio

SUMMER
George Kocar helps suburban groups, The Westlake Junior Womans Club and the Rocky River Junior Womans Club by painting benches for the 2002 "Sitting pretty' project. The Westlake bench is called "Pablo's Zoo" and the Rocky River bench is titled, "River Pirates."

SUMMER
House of LaRose sponsors George Kocar in United Ways project, which will debut at the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME June 14th. The 10' tall stratocaster guitars will be placed around the city of Cleveland throughout the summer and will be auctioned off at the Rock Hall in October. Click here for more views of the guitar.

George Kocar paints colorful adirondack chair for the Cleveland Botanical Gardens, titled "Pablo's jungle." The chair will be displayed at the Botanical Garden Flower Show from May 29th to June 2nd.

George Kocar had two paintings accepted for the "Taos National Watercolor Exhibition" at the Taos Art Museum.

ArtMetro show "Games people play" featuring the artists of NOIS (Northern Ohio Illustration Society). The show will feature a juried session around the theme as well as over 50 other pieces. Also, the original art for Custom Graphics 2001 Calendar will be featured. The show runs from the opening Friday July 27th until August 25th. For more information click onto the NOIS web site.

SUMMER 2001
George Kocar was selected to participate in the "Sitting pretty" painted bench project for the Westlake Junior Woman's Club. The project brought together 5 Cleveland suburbs- Bay Village, Rocky River, Lakewood, Fairview Park and Westlake.
For his bench, Kocar decided to paint wild colorful cubist cats. The benches will be situated at different locations throughout the summer and will be auctioned in August and September.
June 2001
George Kocar painting The Trial accepted in The Three Rivers Arts Festival in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The 60x48" acrylic on canvas was selected by juror Howard Fox, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art for inclusion in the show.
The Festival runs from June 1st until June 17th.

George Kocar wins jurors award at the American greetings Spring fine art show with his painting UGLY FLAGS. The 48x48" acrylic on canvas painting was awarded a $250 prize by jurors Viktor Schleckengost, Carrol Cassil and Susan Channing. He also has two other paintings in the show Running Bull and Painting.
The show features 99 pieces of art, and runs until June 2. ArtMetro is at 530 Euclid, Cleveland, Ohio.
